Weddings

A wedding is the joining of two people together in marriage. Weddings ceremonies differ greatly worldwide with different religions and cultures having a huge variety of traditions. However, one aspect with is generally the same from differing cultures is that a wedding is considered a time of great happiness that brings families together. In most western countries where weddings generally follow the traditional Christian format, although there of course will be exceptions, the wedding would traditionally take place in a church where the bride and groom will be dressed in the traditional ceremonial dress. The ceremony would usual include music, the singing of hymns, a traditional wedding procession and numerous religious references. This is then usually followed by a wedding reception a party to celebrate the successful ceremony and thank the guests for their attendance.

It usual at wedding receptions for there to be food and drink for the guests and a wedding cake, which is often a key focal point of the reception with a great deal of time and money going into the preparation of the cake. There would also usually be various toasts to the bride and groom and speeches of congratulations. Music and dancing is also a traditional feature of the reception with the bridge and groom taking to the dance floor for the ‘first dance’.
